Adé Orí — afrocuban dance ● profound formation
By Yoyo Danger and Saška Sedláková
The very first Adé Orí formation
For this very first edition, we chose “our base”…
the country where our path began.
The country that witnessed our growth, our work, our evolution.
What is this really about?
We are not coming with a weekend of “a little bit of everything”.
We are coming with something we deeply miss in today’s dance world.
Time.
Depth.
Space to truly understand.
If you know our work, you already know that we were never interested in teaching only steps.
And this is exactly why Adé Orí was born.
A project of recurring formations dedicated each time to one specific aspect of Afro-Cuban culture.
Without rush.
Without festival-style “next-next-next”.
With enough time to go into essence.
And if your heart beats the same way ours does, we will keep coming back to nourish this space regularly.
Because this is our goal:
BUILD.
For those who teach
And for those who search
We truly believe this kind of study is essential for teachers.
But also a blessing for those who search, feel, want and love.
ABOUT THE EVENT
First theme: BANTÚ
A culture carrying a massive influence inside Afro-Cuban folklore, movement, rhythm and energy.
We will spend 14 hours together.
Not to fit more material in.
But to slow down enough for things to start making sense.
During the formation we will work with:
– theory
– technique
– rhythms
– body awareness
– historical and cultural context
– steps and movement
– interaction
– improvisation
